Our Beginning

Our Founder and Founding Team:

Kevin Scott, a church pastor and former restaurant owner, followed his vision and calling, moving his family and close friends, The Loves, from California to Boston in 2011 to open The Well Coffee House as a nonprofit community hub. The Scotts and Loves started The Well in 2014 as a volunteer based kiosk inside South Station in downtown Boston where they fell in love with serving the city. Kevin now serves as a chaplain for the Red Sox and has founded Boston School Of Ministry. Matt and Jullie Love with their now adult children, continue to pour their lives into the growing mission of The Well and have expanded to multiple locations. The Well has partnered with dozens of churches, colleges, ministries, business and over 100 local nonprofits.

Who We Are Now

At The Well, our focus is coffee, love, and community. Our team is constantly growing, adding new faces and talents, but our mission has not changed. We're more than just a coffee shop – we're a place where anyone can come to experience the warmth of genuine care and connection. Staffed with friendly baristas, a passionate executive team, dedicated interns and faithful volunteers, we desire to be a blessing to others. Rooted in our Christian values, we offer everyone a welcoming environment to enjoy great coffee and to find connection and refreshment.

Coffee. Love. Community.

Modern-Day Well

Today, coffee houses can be considered the modern-day well. In ancient days, water wells not only served as places to get water, but also to socialize, hold public meetings, hear new ideas, receive news, make announcements, attract crowds and serve needs. The well was often at the center of the community, making it a life source and natural place for gatherings. The Well Coffee House serves as a modern day well, offering gathering spaces for friends, churches, nonprofits, tourists and the entire community.
